Today's news features the announcement that UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir will coach the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, an autograph signing by Elite XC superstars, and JZ Calvacante's ACL injury.
Nogueira and Mir to coach The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Season 8
The UFC announced yesterday that UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir will coach season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter.
This season's cast will consist of light-heavyweights (205lbs) and lightweights (155lbs). The show will premiere on Wednesday, September 17th at 10:00pm ET/PT. Production for the show will begin at the end of this month and the cast will be announced in early September. Mir and Nogueira will meet in a to be announced pay-per-view event.
EliteXC Superstars to sign autographs in Hollywood

"LOS ANGELES, California" EliteXC in conjunction with Image Entertainment and Best Buy will be holding an autograph signing with EliteXC superstars on Monday, May 19th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the La Brea Best Buy store in West Hollywood, California. The autograph signing will feature the debut of the first two EliteXC DVD releases: "Destiny" (2-disc set) which showcases Frank Shamrock vs. Renzo Gracie & Gina Carano vs. Julie Kedzie and "Renegade" (2-disc set) which features a lightweight championship match of KJ Noons vs. Nick Diaz & the MMA debut of street-fighting legend, Kimbo Slice.
A free, limited edition EliteXC poster will be available with the purchase of any EliteXC DVD (limited stock on hand).
Gesias "JZ" Calvancante out with torn ACL
Gesias "JZ" Calvancante was a guest on Sherdog Radio's "Savage Dog Show" last week and announced that he would be out at least three to four months due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee. He will undergo surgery on Monday to repair the knee.
Calvancante expects to return to the ring by years end.
