Today's news features a rematch between Josh Barnett and Pedro Rizzo, Roger Huerta training with Greg Jackson, who Kimbo Slice is training with, Nick Diaz being pulled from the Dream 3 card, and Sean Sherk being cleared to fight.

Josh Barnett vs Pedro Rizzo on July 19th Affliction Card

Pedro Rizzo confirmed in an interview with Sherdog.com that he will indeed be facing Josh "The Babyface Assassin" on July 19th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. There was much speculation as to whether or not the Affliction event would take place as this event was originally scheduled to take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Pedro had this to say regarding the fight:

"I knew about this fight for some time, but was hoping to disclose it," Rizzo told Sherdog.com. "I was hoping to face him due to the fact that he is one of the top five heavyweights, a very tough guy. This is my chance to return to the top, and I will seize it the best way."

The fight between Barnett and Rizzo will be a rematch of their 2001 fight where Rizzo scored a second round knockout over Barnett. The card will be headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs Tim Sylvia.

Roger Huerta to train with Greg Jackson

"The Matador" Roger Huerta will head to New Mexico to train with Greg Jackson. Jackson confirmed this in an interview with MMAWeekly.com:

"He's a really, really nice guy, great fighter, tons of heart," said Jackson about Huerta. "He kind of mentioned that he would like to come down to New Mexico and try it out. Hopefully it will help everybody and everybody will win."

Huerta recently trained with Jackson's team when he helped Georges St. Pierre prepare for his fight title fight against Matt Serra at UFC 83. Huerta stated that he went to work with St. Pierre on aspects of his fight game such as his explosiveness and fast-twitch muscles.

Kimbo Slice's Ground Game

Kimbo Slice stated in a recent interview with MMANews.com that he is in fact working on his ground game. It is well-known that Bas Rutten has been preparing Slice for his fights however many may be surprised to know that Randy Couture has also been helping Slice.

Here is an excerpt of the transcript taken from Pro Elite.com.:

MMANews.com: You mentioned that you have some ground tools that you are dying to use. Are you training your ground techniques often?

Kimbo Slice: Yeah for sure.

MMANews.com:
When it comes to your training what do you tend to focus on more?

Kimbo Slice: Well without giving away to much, I have well rounded training sessions and it is balanced out.

MMANews.com: Besides Bas Rutten who else has been helping you prepare for this fight?

Kimbo Slice:
Bas Rutten and Randy Couture. They are the only two guys I train with and I have been training with them since the beginning of my career and I wouldn't change them for anything. Those are my guys.

Nick Diaz pulled from Dream 3 Card

MMAyou.com reported last week that Nick Diaz was confirmed to fight Katsuya Inoue at Dream 3 on May 11th at the Saitam Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Due to a bout that Diaz has with Muhsin Corbbrey on a June 14th EliteXC card, EliteXC officials were concerned that Diaz would not be healthy enough for his fight with Corbbrey.

Sean Sherk cleared to fight

MMAWeekly.com reported that Sean Sherk has been cleared to fight BJ Penn. The following is a brief excerpt of an email from Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. "The NSAC received Mr. Sherk's steroid and drug test results this morning and they were all negative."

Sean Sherk will face BJ Penn in a much anticipated bout at UFC 84 on May 24th. BJ Penn was tested prior to Sherk and his test results also came back negative.
