Andre Arlovski Signs Multi-fight deal with Strikeforce

Andrei_Arlovski

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andre Arlovski has signed a multi-fight, 16-month contract with Strikeforce today.  He broke the news early today on his official blog
“As promised I wanted to tell you all first hand, I have a multi-fight deal for the next 16 months with Strikeforce and I cannot wait to get into the ring and show the world what I have been working on the last few months!”
A likely first bout for Arlovski could be against Antonio Silva for May 15th.  When he first entered Strikeforce last June, it was due to a co-promotional effort with Affliction Entertainment.  Arlovski lost in an upset against Brett Rogers only 22 seconds into the first round.
Arlovski hasn’t competed in MMA since the [...]

My Top 10 Under Rated Fighters in MMA

8193-Ryan Ford_Fight

I figure I’d start my top 10 lists with Under Rated fighters.
10.  Jason “Mayhem” Miller: He’s had a good run in MMA and is still running.  At his UFC debut he went 3 full rounds with current UFC Welterweight Champ Georges St. Pierre.  Mayhem fought a tough opponent in one bloody match.  Mayhem went on to fight in smaller organizations, winning the ICON Sport Middleweight Champion, and fighting for the vacant Strikeforce Middleweight Title against a tough Jake Shields.  Besides fighting Mayhem finds time to appear on Bully Beatdown, a reality show, and a weekly spot on Jason Ellis’ radio show on Sirus Radio.
9.  Jake Shields:  The self-proclaimed leader of the “Scrap Pack” from Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Shields has been [...]

Sarah Kaufman becomes first Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Champion

Sarah Kaufman

Sarah Kaufman, former ballet dancer turned undefeated MMA star, became the first Strikeforce Womens Welterweight Champion.  She powered her way through five rounds against Japan’s Takayo Hashi in the Strikeforce Challenge main event Friday, 26th.
The fight was never in question throughout the entire five rounds, as Kaufman continually connected on short combination’s and on several occasions scored knockdown punches. There wasn’t much else to the fight, however, as Kaufman was seemingly content to land her punches without ever attempting to finish.
In what was only the second women’s MMA fight to headline a main televised card, the bout came nowhere near the excitement of the first that Strikeforce put on last [...]

“I Will Hurt Him” Herschel Walker or Jose Conseco

Many critics have looked down on Football superstar Herschel Walker when he made his MMA debut on Strikeforce this past January.  But Walker did everything right that any true MMA athlete would do.  He took his training seriously, he showed respect for the sport, and said the right things about opponent Greg Nagy.  In the end Walker left that fight with his hand raised after a third round TKO against Nagy.
It’s no surprise that Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker hopes Walker makes his return to the Strikeforce cage.
“We sat down with Herschel about a week ago and talked about him fighting again,” said Coker. “If he still has the desire, and it seems like he still has the desire and the [...]
