Sandman Eager to Get Back to the Cage

james-irvin

James “The Sandman” Irvin has a permanent reminder of his battle with prescription painkillers.  Every morning when he wakes up and looks in the mirror, he see’s why he took the pills.
When Irvin fought Anderson Silva, he was punched hard in the face, opening up a large gash.  Irvin needed 25 stitches across his face.
“Every day when I look in the mirror, I have a clear reminder of what those drugs did to me and what lies ahead of me if I was ever to start using that garbage ever again.”
Irvin accepted the fight after the UFC decided to give Anderson Silva a go at the light heavyweight division.  Silva was able to knockout Irvin in only 61 seconds of [...]

Dan Hardy unfazed by Davis, GSP.

Earlier this week Marcus Davis tweeted, hoping Dan Hardy dies of AIDS.  Dan Hardy is set to face Welterweight Champ Georges St. Pierre at UFC 111.
Hardy was asked about the comments Friday on SiriusXM Fight Club.  He responded by saying;
“I don’t really pay a lot of attention to it. You know, that’s history now. I fought the guy and I beat the guy, and apparently, I’m still beating him up every day he wakes up and thinks about the fight. So the sooner he gets over the fight and accepts the loss, the better it’s going to be for his career because I think he also put his last loss to Ben Saunders down to the fact that I was [...]

WEC 47 Predictions

With WEC 47 coming up, I figure as head writer of MMAyou, I should have my first predictions for the fights.
First off, the return of Jens “Little Evil” Pulver vs Javier Vazquez

This fight is being overshadowed by Jens Pulver’s return after his loss almost a year ago.  He’s been plagued with a very uneventful career in the WEC, only once beating out Cub Swanson.  However he’s a veteran of the sport, fighting all over the world, and even holding the UFC Bantamweight belt later renamed the lightweight.  Across the ring is Javier Vasquez, a submission specialist, who as well as Pulver is coming off a few loses in the WEC.  Those two losses however, went straight to split decision, [...]

ufc_111_poster

Two world titles will be on the line for the first time in 2010 when the Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for UFC 111: St-Pierre vs Hardy. UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has been unstoppable since regaining the title in 2008, and he aims on extending his reign and his six fight winning streak against British bomber Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, who is unbeaten in the UFC and fresh off wins over Marcus Davis and Mike Swick.
Also, former two-time heavyweight champion Frank Mir will attempt to make history when he squares off against number one contender Shane Carwin in a clash of the titans that [...]
