In the first of many to be answered questions by our panel of experts; Bas Rutten, Guy Mezger, and E ddie Bravo, Mezger talks about what HDNet Fights plans to do with its organization, EliteXC's key to success, and much more.
Here is the question that was chosen for Mezger: written by travis, May 14, 2008 Here is Mezger's response: HDNet Fights is doing its best not to be rivals to any of the MMA promotions. Our stance is that there is plenty of room for many MMA promotions. We are trying to get it to be less "organizations" and more promotion minded. By this I mean that we would like to see an independent sanctioning body (that are credible) direct the rankings and championships so we can see the best fighters fight each other instead of being restricted because one organization owns the contract to one fighter and another org. owns the contract on the other.
Affliction is definitely going for the gold with their 1st show. They are in a tough place to be successful, but I wish them luck. It does take some big ba##s to produce a show like that and it would be great to see the MMA community back them and make it successful.
Elite XC's debut on CBS should go pretty good. The key for there success is sustainability and I feel that will be tough for network TV. Have a question for our panel?
